There is always a little something that can be done to make things better, smaller and consume less energy. If we’re talking about Nokia with a production of somewhere between 1 to 3 millions mobile phones a day the chance to make a difference is huge. A few suggestions on how Nokia and S60 can save the planet.

Get rid of the CDs. Start using mini CDs to load distribute software or even better load software inside the microSD card. Using mini CDs will reduce the packaging size, thus the materials needed for producing the box. Not to mention more phones shipping around the globe using the same containers and tracks. By the time a smartphone is out an updated version of the Nokia Suite or Nokia update is out there already. Use the absolutely minimum software on the microSD (installers only) cards. People will download the apps or plug the phone on a computer and use it as a disk. Include a 10 steps Quick Start Guide printed inside the box. Make the inner box part of the manual, quick start guide experience.

Increase the price and spend the extra money for reducing C02 emissions, like We:Offset application does. When spending more than €350 for a Nseries multimedia computer, adding an extra €2 on top of it still feels the same. Μέχρι να βγει στην κυκλοφορία το Nokia N96 όλοι μπορούμε να βλέπουμε φωτογραφίες και βίντεο όπως το διαφημιστικό που ακολουθεί. Μέχρι το σημείο που αρχίζει το promotion για το N96, το βίντεο είναι καταπληκτικό. Μετά ακολουθεί ό,τι περιμένει κάποιος να ακολουθήσει σε ένα διαφημιστικό βίντεο.. το προϊόν φυσικά! Το αυριανό πρόγραμμα μόνο εύκολο δεν θα είναι. Η έκθεση δεν ανοίγει αύριο παρά μόνο για μερικούς και ευτυχώς οι 9, είμαστε στην ομάδα αυτή που θα έχει την ευκαιρία να δει από κοντά πριν από όλους τι έχει να παρουσιάσει η Nokia. Όταν η Nokia ανακοινώνει νέο firmware για το N95 8GB και από την έκδοση 11.0.026 πάει στην 15.0.015 κάτι καλό και σοβαρό συμβαίνει. Εκτός από τις βελτιώσεις στην ταχύτητα απόκρισης του τηλεφώνου, σημαντική είναι η προσθήκη του Flash Lite 3 που επιτρέπει την παρακολούθηση Flash video όπως το YouTube στην κανονική του έκδοση! Υπάρχει ενσωματωμένο και το Web Run Time που είναι η πλατφόρμα για τα Widgets που είχε υποσχεθεί η Nokia πριν καιρό.

Ενώ εγώ δοκιμάζω και παίζω με το N95 8GB ήδη κυκλοφορούν φωτογραφίες με το νέο μέλος της οικογένειας Nseries που ακούει στο όνομα Nokia N96 και μοιάζει καταπληκτικά με το Nokia N81. Δεν ξέρω πόσο μπορώ να πιστέψω την είδηση αλλά φαίνεται να είναι αληθινή. Ελπίζω η Nokia να κατάλαβε ότι το μαύρο χρώμα στα κινητά τα κάνει απίστευτα sexy και ότι το slider form factor βολεύει πολύ.

Οι φήμες κάνουν λόγο για νέα κάμερα με ανάλυση 5 megapixels με φακό Carl Zeiss και διπλό LED για φλας, την ίδια ώρα που το software έχει αναβαθμιστεί σε S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, με music dedicated buttons και το διπλό slider form factor όπως και στο N95 – αν και δεν βλέπω κουμπιά. Alright, i have to admit i lied about the bikini but Nokia N95 8GB is so sexy that it could definitely fit in a bikini. The black color and the bigger, 2.8″ screen make the new N95 worth every single penny of Nokia’s R&D and marketing money. The device is nearly perfect and solid rock for the last week i’ve been testing it. It really marks a milestone in the development process of smartphones or multimedia computers if you want to stick with Nokia’s marketing terms.

I can keep on writing and praising the N95 8GB but that wouldn’t be fair for you, dear reader; There are 12 pics in this post showing of the looks and the beauty of the phone. Instead i would like to point out a couple of annoyances compared to my recent N82 experience.

I miss the protective camera cover, the N82 had. This 5 Megapixels CCD waiting for me under the hood of an Autofocus Carl Zeiss Tessar 2.8/5.6 Optics, really needs some care. Other than keeping away all the dust and dirt, the protective cover doubled as a switch for the camera. Συνέχεια…
