Είναι Google προϊόν αλλά φτιάχτηκε από ανθρώπους με σάρκα και οστά που σημαίνει ότι ήταν θέμα χρόνου μέχρι να ανακαλυφθεί το Easter Egg που κρύβει στα σωθικά του ο Google Chrome. Το μόνο που χρειάζεται να κάνετε είναι να πληκτρολογήσετε το about:internets στο σημείο που βάζετε τις διευθύνσεις (Omnibox) και να πατήσετε enter. Το αποτέλεσμα είναι άκρως εντυπωσιακό και αναπάντεχο. Μια ιδέα μπορείτε να πάρετε από το “Don’t Clog the Tubes” ή αν κάνετε κλικ για να δείτε το παρακάτω screenshot. No idea what the g 3.0 means but it’s happening right now in Rhodes island, Greece. The supposedly Google Chrome, advertising, web 3.0 event started a few days ago and it’s taking over the island of Rhodes with excitement and lots of sun. The cute young lady was captured at Rhodes airport holding the g 3.0 sign for the hordes of Googlers arriving.

In the mean time, last night approximately 2.500 Googlers broke the Guinness World Record in mass dancing (syrtaki Zorba dance) previous hold by 1.300 Aussies.

The event ends tonight and everyone is going back home tomorrow.

If you haven’t heard, hordes of Googlers arrived in Rhodes island, Greece. There is a top secret event (g 3.0) going on about Google Chrome and other stuff but that’s not the most exciting part. It seems Google organized a whole Greek experience for their employees (which according to my sources are 4.000) having them dance the Zorba way in a stadium (that verifies the 4K figure). This is all cool and exciting for everyone on the island and Rodos Palace hotel and Capsis hotel.

Η Ρόδος έχει γεμίσει από Google υπαλλήλους και άλλους σημαντικούς για το Google Chrome, το Web 3.0 και ίσως άλλα θέματα. Χρησιμοποιούν το Rodos Palace hotel, το Capsis hotel και πιθανότατα και άλλα 2 ξενοδοχεία για να καλύψουν τις ανάγκες περίπου 4.000 ανθρώπων που βρίσκονται στο νησί. Το συνέδριο είναι κλειστό και η είσοδος επιτρέπεται μόνο σε όσους έχουν το ειδικό βραχιολάκι. Κάποιοι του Google έχουν εμφανιστεί με tshirts και στο αεροδρόμιο της Ρόδου υπάρχε κόσμος με ταμπέλες που έγραφαν γ 3.0 ώστε να μαζέψουν όσους έφταναν. Το πρακτορείο που έχει εναλάβει την διοργάνωση δεν λέει τίποτα αλλά είναι σίγουρο ότι το event συμβαίνει αυτή την στιγμή στο νησί.

Σημαντικό είναι το γεγονός ότι στο αεροδρόμιο της Ρόδου προσγειώθηκαν lear jets. Με αφορμή το γραφείο του Google στην Ελλάδα και τα νέα πρόσωπα που έχουν αναλάβει όλα μπαίνουν στην θέση τους. Ίσως να έχει έρθει ο Schmidt, o Sergey, ο Larry ή ακόμα καλύτερα η Marissa Mayer.

Ο Google Chrome browser είναι διαθέσιμος για download απο εχθές αλλά μετά το τέλος της επίσημης παρουσίασης ο Sergey Brin μίλησε σε δημοσιογράφους για τους λόγους που έφτιαξαν το Chrome, τι στόχους έχουν, πως βλέπουν τον Firefox, πως αντιμετωπίζουν τους web developers κλπ. Περίπου 4 λεπτά εξαιρετικού ενδιαφέροντος αφού προέρχονται από τον συνιδρυτή και president of technology του Google. In case you didn’t know Michael Arrington is a genius, a hard working man and someone you want to introduce yourself or buy him a cup of latte. He is so brilliant that a month and a half ago he posted his idea about a Dead Simple Web Tablet For $200.

” I’m tired of waiting – I want a dead simple and dirt cheap touch screen web tablet to surf the web. [...] Just a Macbook Air-thin touch screen machine that runs Firefox and possibly Skype on top of a Linux kernel” he wrote on July 21, 2008. Almost a month later the first TechCrunch Tablet: Prototype A picture saw the light of the web on August 30, 2008.

Yesterday Google told the world about a new open source browser, the Google Chrome. The rumored Google OS turned out to be a WebKit based project powered by Gears (it’s worth mentioning that Google Gears is now available under the name Gears – no Google branding involved) and very fast JavaScript. In a few hours Google is releasing Chrome and Mike will be a very happy man. Let me break down this for you.

Chrome will offer a hell of a optimizations for all Google products and services. Gmail, Google Reader, Picasa, Blogger, Google Talk, YouTube, Google Apps etc. It’s everything Arrington’s been waiting for open source, rich but thin client with a browser, chat and VoIP. A great, open source and cheap combo for consumers, geeks and white collars with the ability to sync and work offline too.

TechCrunch tablet is a great idea opening new possibilities in collaborative design and even in open hardware but it’s only been a month and a half since the first call for the device, the first prototype and Google Chrome announcement. Nothing to imply here, just stating the obvious. Michael Arrington is a genius and he knows people.

Even though Google Chrome is not available yet, TechCrunch offers the first images of the browser from a “soft launched site for Google Chrome”. Looks like Google is doing more that posting images and videos and gets ready to play the game with Help Pages on the Gears site. According to gears.google.com/chrome/intl/en/features.html “Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier.” and according to gears.google.com/chrome/intl/en/webmasters-faq.html “Google Chrome contains many features that can be leveraged by webmasters to deliver a better end-user experience. Google Chrome comes with Gears built in.”

Ο τρόπος που έγινε γνωστή η ύπαρξη του Google Chrome ήταν ένα comic. Όσο και αν φαίνεται απίθανο, αυτό τον τρόπο διάλεξε το Google για να δείξει στον κόσμο τι ετοιμάζει και πως αντιλαμβάνεται τα καθημερινά προβλήματα του χρήστη που σερφάρει.
